About
About her
Nicole was raised in a family with a tradition of artistic pursuits in Switzerland.
Her diverse professional background, which includes training at a jazz school in New York and studying computer science at a hardware and software manufacturer, has had a significant impact on her creative and logical thinking processes. Nicole’s expertise lies in her ability to combine a deep technical understanding with an intuitive knowledge of a wide range of materials, resulting in the creation of works that evoke a diverse range of emotions. The artist is naturally curious about the reactions of different materials and the different effects of color and light, which inform her creative process and allow her to develop new ideas. This motivates her to persistently experiment and evolve her artistic style. Moreover, she has a strong interest in chemical reactions, their underlying principles, and the interactive changes that occur in conjunction with other materials. She is particularly fascinated by the hypnotic reflections, depths, and shapes created by numerous layers of color, which she uses to great effect in her work.
Nicole exclusively utilizes pure pigments, various binding agents, lime putty, marble dust, stain, and other building materials. These materials naturally led her to explore the fascinating world of mixed media as well as fresco and secco painting, a highly complex and unique artistic tradition with a distinct and profound aesthetic.
She received training from artists based in Brazil, England, Germany, and Switzerland. Nicole’s artistic explorations are now conducted within a family context comprising artists, architects, and fellow artists.
After two decades of intensive exploration in the field of painting, Nicole began publicizing her artistic work in January 2022.
Artist Statement
The creative process for a specific painting can persist for days, evolving and manifesting in a manner that appears random but, upon closer examination, is a series of precisely delineated actions that are not contingent on chance and culminate in the expression of a particular emotion.
On other days, creativity is a process that occurs within me and has its origin in the existence of the whole. In my being, as well as in the universe, creativity seeks to find a way to flow through me independently of any thought.
On other days, creativity manifests as instinct, intuition, knowledge, passion, desire, perception, leading, impulses, dance, poetry, touch, and sight. Creativity is not a singular mode of action; rather, it is a multifaceted aspect of our own and universal energy, an inherent quality of our nature. I posit that creativity is accessible to all who are willing to embrace it without restriction.
